TMFINR: She is Real.
After her video went viral, social media blew up in search of the mysterious woman on the plane. Who is she? What did she see? Her identity has not been confirmed...until NOW.
People love a good mystery. People also love a good meme…so when a video, featuring an attractive woman reacting to a mysteriously unreal “mo-fo” on a plane, was posted on TikTok, social media exploded.
Who was this woman?
Why was she so upset?
Was a lizardman or "Carrot Top” involved?
As a journalist, I like a good mystery. Sociologically, I also find viral memeing fascinating, whether Antoine Dodson’s “Bed Intruder” interview, Sweet Brown’s “Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That” or the (now infamous) interview with Kai, the hatchet man. While political scandals, wars, social upheaval fill our timelines, what made the TMFINR video viral worthy?
T-shirts have been made. Attempts to put her exclamation to song have been recorded. Yet, for all her newfound fame, the woman seems to have disappeared—her social media footprint all but scrubbed.
Until now.
When American Airlines Flight 1009, with service from Dallas-Fort Worth to Orlando returned to terminal A, Gate 9 on July 2, it was met with DFW Airport Police. It follows that an incident causing an aircraft to return to gate and all passengers to disembark would result in legal consequences. Interviews would be conducted, and a report transcribing the details of the scene—including the name and details of our protagonist—would be taken by the responding law enforcement agents.
Enter the Investigative journalist.
On July 11, 2023 I issued a formal inquiry through the Freedom of Information Act to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport Police requesting all details of the “TMFINR” incident, and on Monday, July 17, I received the full police reporting.
Here is the incident report, redacted to protect PII:
There you have it.
I have been able to exclusively confirm, with authorities, that Tiffany Gomas, age 38, of Azle, Texas is our TMFINR Woman.
Like many of you, I was intrigued to know who this woman was—to get her side of the story, and especially—how she managed to disappear. That took some more digging.
Doing a basic background check, along with deep-diving into what some on social media had already sleuthed, I was able to confirm two phone numbers of Tiffany’s. I called both of them, leaving voicemail requesting an interview with her. I also sent several emails to her, notifying her of my intent to publish—all without receiving a response.
It may be that Tiffany Gomas is trying to shirk her newfound fame (or infamy, as you have it), but it is more likely that, with charges pending, her legal advisors have told her to remain mum to the press.
Here’s a quick synopsis of our protagonist’s public life, which I have gathered from open sourcing:
A graduate of Oklahoma State University, Gomas is well known to be a “rising star” in the business and marketing sector of Texas. Featured as one of Promotional Products Association International (PPAI) Magazine’s 2017 "20-Most Watchable Young Leaders", Gomas began her career in recruitment, before a change in career to marketing launched her into the C-Suite hemisphere.
NB: The fact that Gomas is an expert in marketing is important. Within the hours and days following the now-viral incident—which includes at least two pending criminal charges (Disturbance Onboard Aircraft and Criminal Trespassing)—Gomas seems to have utilized her skillset, means and methods to erase her presence on social media.
In addition, it seems that sometime around the same time Gomas was receiving the accolades from PPAI as VP of Client Services at Elevate Brand Marketing—representing big-name Fortune-5 companies—Gomas launched her own company, Uppercut Marketing, LLC. As seen below, Gomas represents several major accounts on record.
Although Gomas was given several days to respond to inquiries, being notified of the intent to publish this Public Record data, she remains silent. I know several outlets (including my own) which would be happy to provide her airtime, and I hope that—once she reads this report—she may come forward and tell her story.
Tiffany Gomas is, clearly, a highly valued executive, who has found herself in the limelight as an attractive and…well…passionately articulate woman. Whatever occurred, whoever she saw and/or experienced, this was extremely disturbing to her.
One would think this would be an opportune moment to exploit that limelight and Market her new Brand.
You have my contact information, Tiffany.
